    Morning Hector,

Thank you very much for organizing such an enthusiastic and happy group of riders for the weekend. It was wonderful to join them on their cycling journey. I am sure we can organize more sessions in the future and look to get them out riding regularly.

    Could you please pass the following on to all that attended;

Thank you very much for joining us for our Bike Skills session on the weekend. It was wonderful to spend time with such an enthusiastic and happy group of riders. Myself, Alycia, Gaio and Megan really enjoyed riding with you all and were most impressed with your desire to improve your riding skills and the sense of fun you brought to the session. Thank you also for being adaptable, particularly the Beginner Group who shared bikes and supported each other so well.
We are always keen to hear any feedback you might have so we can ensure we can offer the best sessions possible. Please send any feedback to me, simon.vincent@at.govt.nz or direct to my team leader, zane.bray@at.govt.nz > please do check out the Auckland Transport website for other opportunities to get out on a bike, either through courses, events or discovering maps of great bike rides in Auckland https://at.govt.nz/cycling-walking/ I hope to see you all out riding again soon. And as a group you may also be interested in the Auckland Walk Challenge that is taking place throughout November, https://at.govt.nz/cycling-walking/courses-events/the-auckland-walk-challenge/ a wide range of fun, free events are happening and when you sign up for the challenge you can go in the draw to win some great prizes.
So happy riding and walking everyone,
    Regards

    Simon

On Saturday, a large group of us gathered for a day on wheels.

Auckland Transport has a great initiative going, where they teach people how to access and ride the city’s cycleways to help the environment, and encourage fitness.

Our not-so-little group of 25 were shown the basics of riding a bike. That is, how to check your bike is in prime working condition, how to work your gears and brakes, how to get the most out of your helmet and more.

For a lot of us who hadn’t seen the saddle in decades, it was a great refresher course. And once we climbed on, the memories came flooding back – it was just like riding a bike!

Our trainer Simon took us through a pathway in the central suburb of Sandringham. Auckland is connected through a network of parks where people can cut through on their cycles instead of taking their cars.

From the Sandringham park you can go out to Onehunga, and then Manukau. Or if you’re headed West, there’s a route to take you all the way to the Waitakere ranges.

The thought of cycling around the city can be quite intimidating if you’ve only seen lycra-clad experts zooming along in the Auckland traffic. But it really can be much simpler than that.

We came back from the course with large smiles and the promises of buying a bike the second we could. I do believe I’ll be seeing this group cruising through the city exclusively on cycles this summer.

So oil the chains, fill your tires with air, book a session with Auckland Transport, and take the first step into a new challenge. We promise you won’t regret it.

    To Simon Vincent

    Hi Simon

Thank you and your brilliant team of Alycia, Gaio and Megan for a memorable morning last Saturday.
We loved your enthusiasm and my family already know this Christmas Santa’s getting them bikes for being nice. Your snippets of knowledge about bike trails linking the city was an eye opener and I for one cannot wait to explore it all.
Keep up the good work and a big thanks to your team and Richard for rekindling my love for two wheels.

    Regards
    Keith
